Catholic Charities Counseling and Adoption Services proudly joined the Erie community in celebrating World Refugee Day on June 26, honoring the resilience, courage, and contributions of refugees who have rebuilt their lives in our community.
During the celebration, our Refugee Resettlement Department was honored to receive two official proclamations recognizing the importance of welcoming and supporting refugees and immigrants—one from Governor Josh Shapiro proclaiming June as Immigrant Heritage Month across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and another from Mayor Daria S. Devlin proclaiming June 26, 2026, as World Refugee Day in the City of Erie.
These proclamations reaffirm the vital contributions that refugees and immigrants make to our communities and reflect our shared commitment to fostering hope, opportunity, and belonging for all.
